Probavis · The software

Software for the risk assessment of machinery

Probavis holds the risk assessment of a machine in a single project. Machine limits, functions, hazards, risk evaluations, protective measures, standards and essential health and safety requirements stay linked to one another inside it.

The desktop application runs on your own machine, and the project files stay in-house. At the end there is a structured PDF report — prepared with the AI of your choice if you want it.

Your problem

One application instead of Excel, Word and scattered project templates

In special-purpose machine building especially, risk assessments are often produced under time pressure. Information is spread across Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and earlier project templates. At the same time, it must remain traceable which hazards were considered, how risks were evaluated and which protective measures were defined.

Probavis takes you through the work steps the EU Machinery Regulation requires: from defining the machine limits to the finished report. You can complete the risk assessment entirely manually or optionally bring in the AI of your choice. The technical evaluation and control remain with you at all times.

Still working with scattered Excel and Word files?

In Probavis you handle the entire risk assessment in one central project structure. Machine limits, functions, hazards, risk evaluations, protective measures, standards and essential health and safety requirements stay linked in a single place.

This keeps it traceable at all times which hazard gave rise to an evaluation and its associated protective measure.

Assessing the same recurring assemblies again and again?

Recurring assemblies and proven solutions do not have to be captured anew for every project. With Probavis you can export subcomponents — including hazards, evaluations, protective measures and analysis results — and reuse them in other projects.

This lets you build on existing knowledge systematically, reduce recurring work and create a consistent basis for similar machines.

Does documenting your risk assessment cost you unnecessary time?

Probavis automatically creates a clearly structured PDF report from the information captured and linked in the project.

There is no need to merge content from different files afterwards. This reduces formatting effort, simplifies filing in the technical documentation and makes it easier to share the report with customers and other project participants.

The Probavis project tree

The whole risk assessment in one project tree

Project tree in Probavis with the search field: the matching entry is highlighted, next to it the risk evaluation to ISO/TR 14121-2 with risk level and assigned entries.
Section of the project tree with search field and risk evaluation

The project tree maps every element of the risk assessment in a clear structure. The search field takes you straight to a specific entry: in the example, searching for "M10" highlights the matching entry in the project tree. Next to it, the associated risk evaluation is shown with its rating parameters.

The process

Seven steps to a risk assessment under the EU Machinery Regulation

  1. 01

    Define machine and limits

Intended use, space and time limits, life phases — the limits show where to look for hazards.

  2. 02

    Analyze functions

Intended function, possible malfunction, reasonably foreseeable misuse — the analysis leads systematically to the hazards.

  3. 03

Review essential health and safety requirements

Establish which essential health and safety requirements may apply to the machine — so that no hazard goes undetected.

  4. 04

    Evaluate hazards

Identify hazards and score them with the risk parameters Se/Fr/Pr/Av, following ISO/TR 14121-2.

  5. 05

    Derive protective measures

Risk reduction directly at the hazard — starting with inherently safe design, with a performance level assessment per EN ISO 13849 where needed.

  6. 06

    Assign standards and EHSR

Cite harmonized standards from the catalogue and assign essential health and safety requirements. Completeness stays visible.

  7. 07

    Generate the report

A structured PDF report at the push of a button — for the file, the customer or the authority, without manual reformatting.

The features

Features for a traceable risk assessment

Probavis maps the essential work steps of a risk assessment in one continuous project. Functions, hazards, risk evaluations, protective measures, standards and essential health and safety requirements stay linked to one another.

This lets you carry out your risk assessment with a consistent methodology, keep open points in view and produce a structured report at the end.

The risk report

Issue the risk assessment as a structured PDF report

Excerpt from the PDF report generated by Probavis: a table for the hazard "cut on sharp edges and teeth" with location, group, origin, consequences, causes, assigned essential health and safety requirements and life phases, followed by the risk evaluation with Se, Fr, Pr, Av, score, risk level and the reasoning on the residual risk.
Risk assessment report — excerpt

The report comes out of the project entries, not out of a template kept alongside them. Hazard, evaluation, measure and the assigned requirements stand in the same relation to one another as they do in the project tree.

Who it is for

Who is Probavis for?
